DAY 1 This morning we set off towards North Wales, with stops en route, arriving at our seafront hotel with time to settle in before dinner.
DAY 2 We set off after breakfast for Bodnant Garden, a world-famous garden which is home to National Collections and Champion Trees. With intimate corners, sweeping lawns, grand terraces and verdant woodland, there are many gardens in one at Bodnant – this haven of rarity and beauty, with a stunning backdrop of the mountains of Snowdonia, is a delight for the senses. There is a café, shop and garden centre on site to visit after exploring the beautiful grounds.
DAY 3 Today we have time at leisure to explore Llandudno. A splendid promenade spans the gently curving bay between the headlands of the Great Orme and the Little Orme. The beach on the West Shore has glorious views of Snowdonia and Anglesey. The town is outstandingly preserved with all the traditional attractions of its Victorian origins. Explore at your own pace, whether it is fish and chips with an ice cream on the prom, or a trip to the summit on the Great Orme Tramway with views of Ireland and the Isle of Man on a clear day!
DAY 4 This morning we head to the quaint, historic streets of Beaumaris, with its 17th century Courthouse and 13th century moated castle, plus lots of boutique shops and tempting cafes for a wander and tasty treat. Also enjoy an 80 minute cruise through the stunning Menai Straits, a spectacular stretch of water with beautiful scenery and wildlife, where you will cruise under the two bridges and through the ‘Swillies’ where the shipwreck of HMS Conwy now rests under the surface.
DAY 5 After a hearty Welsh breakfast we set off to explore the medieval walled town of Caernarfon with its mighty 13th century Castle, and dramatic waterfront setting. It is then just a short walk from the Castle to board your train for a journey through the spectacular Snowdonia National Park on the Welsh Highland Railway. On arrival at Beddgelert, known as Snowdonia’s loveliest village, enjoy time to explore the charming streets, welcoming cafes and learn some of the tales associated with this historic village.
DAY 6 We head for home today, with stops en route, arriving back in the early evening.
