DAY 1 After joining your coach in the morning, set off north towards beautiful County Durham for a four night stay.
DAY 2 This morning we visit Eggleston Hall Gardens, known as the Secret Garden of the North. This walled garden specialises in rare and unusual species which thrive in the climate of the northern dales. Spend some time wandering the winding paths of this hidden gem and enjoy the fell views. We return to the hotel to spend time at leisure enjoying the excellent facilities this afternoon, before an early dinner after which we head off to the highlight of our tour, Kynren, which provides an unforgettable experience taking audiences on a thrilling adventure through 2,000 years of history. Performed by a 1,000-strong cast and crew on a 7.5-acre outdoor stage, this multi-award-winning live action spectacular delights and dazzles the senses, with its mix of hand-to-hand combat, daring stunts, incredible horsemanship, stunning pyrotechnics and amazing special effects. From Boudicca’s battles with the Romans to two world wars, via Vikings, Tudors and the fate of Charles I, Kynren is a spellbinding, family-friendly experience delivering thrills, shocks, tears, laughs, goosebumps and gasps on a truly cinematic scale.
DAY 3 After a leisurely breakfast, we make our way to Bishop Auckland to discover The Auckland Project, a unique collection of heritage attractions spanning two thousand years of history. Take a guided tour of the magnificent Auckland Castle, one of the best-preserved bishop’s palaces in Europe, enjoy 10 acres of beautiful gardens, explore the history of faith in Britain in the UK’s first Faith Museum, and immerse yourself in an awe-inspiring collection of mining art. You could also treat yourself to delicious cakes in the Bishop’s Kitchen café!
DAY 4 Take a step back in time today with a visit to the Living Museum of the North at Beamish, where the past is brought vividly to life. Nestling in 300 acres of beautiful countryside, visit Pockerley, with its stunning manor house and railway, and take a tram ride through a real Edwardian market town with its painstakingly and lovingly rebuilt houses and shops. You can also visit Home Farm, wander around the Pit Village and enjoy a ride on an old carousel.
DAY 5 After a final hearty breakfast it is time to say farewell and head homeward today.
