DAY I We set off this morning to the stunning Blenheim Palace. Dressed ready for Christmas, with a different theme each year, explore the Palace rooms and marvel at the festive decorations including the gigantic Christmas Tree in The Great Hall. Shoppers and foodies can escape the bustle ofThe High Street and stock-up on festive goodies at the celebrated Christmas Market in The Great Court. The seasonal village of wooden chalets offers everything from inspired Christmas gift ideas to tasty treats, and if you have worked up an appetite, there is a tempting selection of street food stalls to share with loved ones under the stars. We then continue our journey to Derbyshire for a three night stay, arriving in time for dinner.
DAY 2 Discover the delightful town of Bakewell, with its medieval stone bridge, quaint courtyards and mellow stone buildings. Legend has it that the town’s famous Bakewell Pudding was created by mistake by a local cook in the mid-19th century.Today her delectable ‘jam tart that went wrong’ can be sampled at various bakeries and cafes in the town.We then head to the magnificent and stately Chatsworth House, home of the Devonshire family for 16 generations. With a myriad of rooms and art collections in the house and I05 acres of wonderful gardens all dressed spectacularly for Christmas, the rooms are filled with Christmas wonder and the sights, sounds and scents of the season. Enjoy an interactive light and sound trail around the Chatsworth Garden featuring some of its best-loved landmarks, including the historic Cascade, Rock Garden and Maze. Wrap up warm and maybe enjoy some festive food and drink as you explore.
DAY 3 Today we head to the elegant spa town of Buxton, renowned for its Georgian and Victorian architecture and The Crescent, where you can enjoy time at your leisure. Maybe take a stroll from the magnificent Georgian Crescent and Pump Room up the Slopes, past the Town Hall to the highest Market Place in England.You may wish to explore the delightful Pavilion Gardens, or maybe spend some time perusing the local independent shops for some Christmas gifts. We then return to the hotel with time to relax before dinner.
DAY 4 After breakfast we set off for home, visiting the Bicester Village designer outlet en route, where you can shop in the boutiques and enjoy some lunch before continuing your journey homeward.
