DAY 1  We head off this morning to the market town of Kendal, arriving with time to settle in before dinner this evening.

DAY 2  Today we take a wonderfully scenic trip through the heart of the Lake District to the ever-popular North Lakes market town of Keswick, under the shadow of the impressive Skiddaw mountain. Here you can browse the shops and have lunch in one of the local cafés, or maybe visit the Derwent Pencil Museum! This afternoon we continue to England’s most beautiful lake, Ullswater, for a cruise on a ‘steamer’ from Pooley Bridge to Glenridding. We return to our hotel via the narrow, but beautiful Kirkstone Pass with its breathtaking views across the Patterdale and Troutbeck valleys.

DAY 3  We set off this morning travelling north following part of Lake Windermere to the picturesque village of Ambleside. Enjoy time for coffee and a look around this charming area, before we head to Haverthwaite and enjoy a short steam train journey today through the beautiful Leven Valley on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. On arrival at Lakeside, we board our boat for a delightful cruise along Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, from Lakeside to Bowness-on-Windermere. Bowness is popular all year round and people come here to sail on the lake or just to relax and savour the atmosphere and the town’s delightful setting. We then head back to Kendal, with time at leisure this afternoon for you to enjoy the hotel’s facilities or perhaps explore the historic market town at your own pace.

DAY 4  It is full steam ahead to the Western Lakes today for a nostalgic trip back in time on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, affectionately known by the locals as ‘La’al Ratty’, meaning ‘little railway’ in old Cumbrian dialect. Enjoy a return trip on England’s oldest and longest narrow gauge railway from the delightful coastal village of Ravenglass through two glorious valleys to the foot of England’s highest mountains. On the way back to our hotel, we have time to explore the genteel Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands, known for its long seafront promenade. This elegant town has strong reminders of its heyday as a fashionable seaside resort in the 19th century in its ornamental gardens and attractive shopping arcades.

DAY 5  We head for home today, with stops en route for coffee and lunch, arriving back in the early evening.

The guide and driver were both excellent in a way that made you think they had worked together for years. They kept us all entertained, and ably coped with anything thrown at them. The hotel was pleasant. All the trips we did were great fun. We hope to travel with you again soon.

My Friend and I have just returned from an amazing trip to the Dutch bulb fields, which was just so enjoyable, made even more so by your lovely driver Russ, and Caroline, who really do make your day with their banter, and their professionalism. I am very much looking forward to another trip next year hopefully. By the way, lovely new coach, so comfy and nice to have some leg room for a change! All in all thankyou for an amazing holiday

Heathside travel provided excellent service to take a large group on a day trip to Bombay Sapphire, which was well organised through the company. Coach was very comfortable and had a pleasant journey. Staff were friendly and informative both on the day and in the booking process. Would definitely consider Heathside Travel for other day trips and services.
